With your support we can make a difference

In 2024, The Braumart hosted 44 events, ranging from live music, dance, and drama to historic lectures and classic movies. 7,763 people entered the Braumart's doors, with 433 attending educational events for area youth. A total of 331 students attended workshops or were a part of a live theatre or dance event at the Braumart. The Braumart also hosted 12 classic movies geared towards entertaining young people in our area.

In 2025, the Braumart will celebrate another significant number: 100 years old.

In the spring of 1925, the Braumart first opened its doors and served Dickinson County as the flagship movie theatre for nearly 70 years. As times changed, the space evolved into a multi-use performing arts center. In 2009, the Friends of the Braumart, a group of local citizens who share a passion for this vital community resource formed, grew, and in 2016 purchased the building. For fifteen years this nonprofit group has worked to restore the Braumart as the home for arts and culture in Dickinson County.

The Braumart’s mission is to enrich the overall quality of life through entertainment, arts, and culture by fostering the economic benefits of a vibrant arts and culture community. A revived performing arts center in the heart of downtown Iron Mountain is a key support pillar to other local businesses. Think of it this way: The Braumart adds that all-important "something to do” and attracts people downtown to eat, shop, and stay for a show.

Our area has come so far in a few short years, with new businesses opening and more foot traffic downtown to enjoy everything the community offers all year round.

While our nonprofit theatre and its board and committees have made great strides, the building needs substantial renovations to accommodate changing entertainment and cultural needs. Our capital improvement plans will transform the theatre into a modern performing arts and training center. These improvements will enhance your experience and attract high-quality music, film, drama, and dance events. With a state-of-the-art facility, we aim to better support our growing creative community, all while maintaining a sense of historic preservation.

Come be a part of the next era in 2025. Ways you can help include making a one-time, or ongoing donation by check or online, volunteering your time and expertise by joining a committee, or becoming a board member. You can also attend our exciting lineup of events which will celebrate 100 years with The Braumart’s first season pass. Our work together now will ensure the community has a permanent place to enjoy the life-changing power of the arts for generations to come.
