GOLD: The Documentary
The Braumart announces a Special Area Premiere screening of the movie GOLD Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 3:00pm.All proceeds from this event will benefit a local non-profit in Iron Mountain.
"GOLD" is a documentary exploring the lives of four dancers at the Gold Nugget strip club in Spread Eagle, Wisconsin. The film focuses heavily on Dusty's story, who was a dancer in the 90s. She has owned the club for 30 years and runs it in a way that empowers women - guiding them to further education, encouraging them toward sobriety, and offering respect and support through unconditional (and sometimes tough) love.
Each of these women has a unique past that landed them in the industry, but each of their stories is relatable to women everywhere. Both inspiring and heartbreaking at times, GOLD offers a unique perspective into the world of women who work at this particular club in this rural part of the US. It's an inspiring story of resilience, overcoming oppression, and finding your voice.
GOLD is a film empowering those in the sex industry and highlighting all the good that can come from independence, self-respect, confidence, and bodily autonomy.
This premiere screening will feature an intro from GOLD director Paige McKenna Grube and a filmmaker Q&A after the screening hosted by area filmmaker Seth Anderson. GOLD Runtime: 1:20:38.
This film is rated M for mature and features adult themes, nudity, and drug use that are not suitable for children under 17. Parental discretion is advised.
